Over the course of 2016 Paramendel has largely been out of comission due to serious illness amoungst a few of our members. We're all okay now and ready to start investigating again. At the beginning of the year, we preformed a few local investigations and had a great time doing it!
At one particular location, we encountered a few spirits who lead us to some disturbing alligations of posible criminal activity. Due to the sensitive nature of the alligations as well as the possibility of descendents still living in the area, we have made the decision not to post the EVP's or the location in order to protect the privacy of those involved as well as the current owners of the property. During the investigation we encountered several entities that divuldged specific names and information that we were able to verify through historical records as well as census data. We were absolutely shocked to verify this information. It was certainly one of those moments paranormal invesitgators dream about. We will begin posting more and are accepting clients. I would like to address something that I find odd. Our team seems to get a lot of EVP's when we investigate while other paranormal teams do not. (Either that or they don't post it) While our team realizes that some hauntings can be residual and others intelligent, when we get EVP's that pertain to the place, people or circumstances we are investigating we feel they are all relevant so we post them. When you consider that "spirit boxes" only stay on a station for 1/10 of a second, odd words coming through seem to have more of a purpose even though we may not realize what that purpose is at the time. If we are asking questions about something like how, "How old are you?" and get a response of "garage", a few things go through my head. What does the word "garage" have to do with anything about a person's age? Is there something else we should be asking or another place we should be looking? In some cases, (try as we might) there is no reason for some random words to come up in EVP sessions (unless they are residual). Then again, we may not have the same agenda the spirits do. For that reason we post EVP's that seem out of context, only to find out later that they do indeed have relevance. When you consider that spirits have the same personality they had when the were among the living, it only seems natural to talk to them as if they were standing there in the flesh. We joke, we have fun and we ask relevant questions. Another way to look at it is... If you were stuck in a lonely uninhabited building with no one to communicate with or in a building where everyone seemed to ignore you and a group of people took the time to specifically to talk to you, what would you want to tell them after all those years of silence? After all... a piece of them is stuck here for a reason. Let 'em talk. SITE HISTORY Another important element to an investigation is site history. Most old building have some sort of history. Some have a paranormal past and others are relatively free of paranormal activity inspite of their age. Just because a building is new or the land was recently developed, doesn't mean there isn't a history to it. Often times they are not one and the same anyway. The structure may not be "haunted", but the land is or vice vesra. If you watch any of the popular "Ghost Shows" currently on TV, then you'll see what I mean.
A lot of places have had buildings torn down years ago, that later have new ones built on them with no memory that another building(s) even stood there many years ago. Look at places in history like Troy and other lost cities featured on the History Channel. Its almost impossible to walk across an open farm field or any parcel of land and be able to tell what has taken place there over the years. All physical traces may be gone, but the paranormal ones can still linger. If a certain town had its first structure built in the early 1800's, does that mean that nothing of significance happened there prior to 1800... On a planet 4.5 billion years old, that's not likely. Does it have to be paranormal... no, but it could be! Something else we have experienced during investigations are what I call "proximity haunts". Maybe the area or building you are investigating really doesn't have much (if any) paranormal activity, but a site nearby does. I believe that if the spirits and or entities know that someone is nearby and seem receptive to "the other side", they would seek you out if their message needs to be heard. For that reason we have encountered spirits that aren't necessarily connected to the structure we are investigating, but one or more nearby. A good case and point was our investigation at the Summit Co. home. While we did communicate with spirits associated with the structure, we also communicated with spirits from surrounding structures. We had no control over "who" or "what" came through. In still another case, an old Indian village use to be nearby, but now there is absolutely no trace it existed. Is it possible those energies still linger... of course. Could they effect the outcome of one's current investigation... yes, especially if you don't know it was ever there. Other factors play a roll as well like the proximity to water, limestone/quartz, magnetic fields, natural disasters, etc. For these reasons we find it necessary to find out everything we can about a particular investigation we are on from the people that lived there, to the sites history. It only takes one disgruntled spirit from the past to bring things to life in the present. If we know "who" they are or "what" happened, then we have a leg up on the investigation. Sometimes we don't get all the info until after the investigation. We may find out "who" or "what" while we conduct the investigation and tie it all in later. Use your county's map room, deed office, historical society, library, or genealogy department to help uncover the history. It may take a little extra effort, but it will pay off in the long run. Its one of the reasons we schedule our investigations at least 2 weeks in advance. It helps us get the facts before we go. Although personal experiences are not enough to qualify as "evidence," I still find them fascinating. It's been a while since some members of Paramendel and I investigated the Sedamsville Rectory in Sedamsvillve, Ohio. Since we have recently posted evidence on the location I thought it would be appropriate to recount my time there. Back in November of 2012, before we were officially known as "Paramendel," myself, Sean and Joe went to Sedamsville with our sister group to preform an investigation on the infamous Sedamsville rectory. I had seen it only weeks before on the show Ghost Adventures. Reported activity was dark and demonic in nature. There are reports of dog fighting in the basement and a Catholic priest that molested children. All of this activity sounded pretty intense. It was interesting to be somewhere a team I look up to had been. I also had an idea of what to expect, which was good. While watching the Ghost Adventures show on Sedamsville, a few things struck me:
My dad (Joe) and I had one thought on this: If Tim was possessed, why would that dissipate as soon as Tim walked outside? Shouldn't it stick with him? Over the next few weeks my dad and I discussed this specific episode of Ghost Adventures. We couldn't get it out of our heads! Then we found out that we were actually GOING to Sedamsville. We were pumped. Despite my skepticism of the 'demonic' presence at Sedasmsville, I came prepared. I brought sage (to cleanse) and plenty of Gatorade, Water and snacks (to ground myself if I started picking up on too much activity). Upon initial entry to the building, things feel okay. There's nothing inherently scary about the place. It's old, kinda cool looking and still. I went on the walk through, filming Tim as he took us room to room. After the tour, Tim left and we were left to investigate. While we were preparing our equipment, I ran into a cold spot at the bottom of the stairs in the main hallway. Another investigator felt it too. It seemed to travel up the stairs. We called Sean over and asked him if he felt anything. As Sean was describing what he sensed, I saw a bright white orb (seemingly solid) fly past the three of us and up the stairs. I could hardly believe it. I had never seen anything so clearly before. I asked the others if they had seen anything. They didn't see it but they did feel it. We got excited that we were already experiencing activity and we hadn't set up yet! (It should also be noted that where we were getting these sensations and seeing these orbs, was the same spot Terri and Tim heard a deep (and audible) growl on the GA show.) Eventually we split in to teams. I ended up in the room of the priest that molested children with two other women. It was said that the priest doesn't like women in that room. As we sat on the couch, we started asking questions. We asked for the chair to be rock back and forth, the suitcase on the floor to be moved... nothing happened. Mostly, we were seeing shadows and getting sensations. One of the girls I was with decided to pray out loud. She asked the priest to pray with her. I began to feel my hair move on the back of my head. It felt like someone had placed their hand there. I waited, trying to debunk the feeling and then I started to get a sudden warm tingly feeling on my forehead. I mentioned this to the girl to my right. She started asking the priest why he was touching me. The sensation lingered while we tried to figure out what/who or why I was being touched. We hypothesized that I was the only Pagan in the room. Perhaps I was being blessed by the priest. It seemed probable but unable to be proven, so we continued the EVP session. Suddenly, I became sick to my stomach. I felt like I couldn't stay in that room for another minute or else I'd be cleaning the carpet. The EVP session ended and we went back to the kitchen (basecamp) on the main floor. The sick feeling wasn't leaving so I excused myself and sat in the spook wagon for a while. I drank water, ate some beef jerky and saged myself. I was certain I had been touched. Some people say that when you are touched the sensation does tend to linger and some people do get physically ill afterward. It took me a while to recover but after about 30-40 minutes outside, I decided to go back into the house. As I stepped inside, again, everything felt normal. Nothing paranormal seemed to be going on. As the investigation went on, I started getting irritated. I began to sulk in the corner during EVP sessions. This feeling moved on to straight hatred as we moved from room to room. I noted that these feelings were NOT my feelings. I knew I was picking up on something. I kept exclaiming that I was being "fucked with." I felt like something or someone was messing with me because they knew I am sensitive. I asked to be excused, again, and went out to the spook wagon parked on the street. Once I got outside, it's like the air got cleaner. I felt normal again. It was the strangest thing. I sat outside, thinking about the show, and Tim. I was starting to understand how someone could get irritated and straight up pissed off inside that house, then come outside and have everything be fine. It was not possession. It was more like picking up on the emotions tied to the house. It was like your annoying little brother playing the "I'm not touching" you game just to make you mad. It was just down right mischievous. I do not think anything there is demonic. Bad? Maybe. A pedophile? Sure. Mischievousness? Definitely. Demonic? No. I do, however, worry about those that spend a lot of time in the home and are able to notice that what they are feeling are NOT their own feelings but the feelings attached to the building and it's paranormal inhabitants. These emotions, unchecked, can start to mess with a person even when they're not inside the building itself. Is Sedamsville haunted? Perhaps. I definitely experienced a lot of things personally. I would love to go back sometime and document more. We'll see what we get. Lately there has been some discussion among our members, (okay ,me and Michelle) about whether we should use the spirit box more or less. When we use it we seem to get a lot of EVP's and when we don't... not so much. While we are beginning to agree on which EVP's to post due to quality,(class A's) and leaving out the also rans (class B's) we still disagree on how often to use it. My view is that while EVP's without a spirit box are way more impressive, time constraints require we maximize our ability to get all we can while we are doing our investigation. In most cases spirit energy seems to discipate rather quickly, so our time to capture quality EVP's is rather short. Spirit Boxes give us the most bang for the time we have allotted while the spirits still have the energy. Another reason I like Spirit Boxes is that they allow us to hear in real time the answers to our questions. Sometimes we miss what is being said at the time due to additional static or comments, but for the most part they help us determine where the questioning needs to go next. Discuss... Our team would like to announce that we have a new team member... Stephanie Pelech of NE Ohio. We met her at a Paranormal convention in Mansfield, OH last fall. We were impressed with her ability to jump right into an investigation and make the most of it. When we encountered other worldly phenomenon she stood her ground and handled it like a pro. We look forward to including her in as many investigations as she can participate in and think she will be a real asset to the team.
Welcome to the Paramendel website. We have worked very hard on this website and hope you enjoy clicking around and listening to our awesome evidence.
